The End of An Ice Age

Rushing to Georgian Bay

A warm spring breeze is in the air…..how do I know….we are preparing the waterfront for another great season of Muskoka boating and you can feel the strength of the sun!  Yes the weather will be better than last year…I am saying that!  What was extremely thick ice on Fairy Lake, warm conditions resulted in a significant move this week to soft water conditions. Fairy Lake turned noticeably light grey today…on the way to dark grey and then its…..gone!  I predicted the 27th of this month to be ice free on Fairy Lake and I may be a day or so too late.  With continuing warm conditions and a little wind…its gone next week!  The ice is full of holes from the bottom side that are working their way to the surface…it looks like the surface of the moon.  As of late today the water level was at summer normal high….a relief so far as it appears that we may be spared the discouraging flooding and resulting damage of the last two springs.  All of us with docks and shorelines to protect are hoping that!

The official start to the summer is just a couple of weeks away.  Today we completed our first new boat delivery for 2015 to Mario of Picton/Belleville Ontario area.  The Crestliner 1850 Super Hawk is Mario’s second Crestliner boat…the first one lasted over 25 years…and you will find Mario almost daily chasing tasty Pickerel in the waters off Prince Edward County.  Mario came along way to pick up his new Crestliner and we appreciate the opportunity and trust that Mario placed in Huntsville Marine to provide his new fishing machine.  Mario passed by many a boat dealer to come to Huntsville.

We are opening new boats every day for view…showroom renovations continue…unfortunately running late on those…waterfront work is underway and we will be at full staffing levels in the next few days.  Time to start thinking about getting the family boat serviced or out of storage. Here’s to a great summer after a very long and too cold winter!
